Thanks for asking about the title.
Laura Godwin, our publisher, first heard of the book at Bologna. She was told by -- I forget, another publisher, or scout -- that it was the most interesting book published in England that year, but also controversial. When she came back here and read it, she, and all of us, knew we had to publish it. The title change came solely because there was a recent adult book also about heroin called The Story of Junk. We just thought there was a chance that people would be confused, or would mistake one for the other.
Since there was an easy alternative that posed no such problems, we made the change.
