Richard and Vonny seem to be positive adult characters. Also Gemma's mother does not seem to bad. The question is how old are Richard and Vonny? I would suspect in their late 20's early thirties. Skolly is not portray that negatively especially at the beginning when he befriends Tar.

I just finished this book yesterday and I must go back and read the messages that have already been received. I am not ennamoured of this book. I don't see how it is different from many other fiction and non-fiction books about homelessness, dysfunctional families drug abuse. I did not find one character that I was really interested in. I also wondered about just how realistic the portrayal of the characters was through their own voices. Is is possible that all of these street kids have wonderful grammar and express themselves so well?
From what I have read about heroin addiction this book paints a rather rosey picture. Only the two peripheral characters die.

I think that the title is the most interesting part of this book.
