SMACK: Age limits...

It's interesting to see the range of age levels suggested by the review journals for "Smack," with lowest suggested age levels ranging from 13 years and upper age level cut-offs ranging from 16 years to adult.
With this in mind, along with Michael Thorn's mention earlier that in the U.K. "Smack" was originally published as an adult book, how do you perceive the audience for the book? How do you distinguish between adult and young adult literature?
