As to Betty's suggestion, why not just go ahead and put some of the poetry books in the picture book section, where appropriate. Many of the shorter collections that feature illustrations prominently and one poem for page can easily be placed in picture book, especially if you are lucky enough to have multiple copies--that's what I did with Adoff's _Love Letters_, for example: one copy in non-fiction, one in picture book. Just a thought. So many great picture books are just long poems (my current favorites are McPhail's _Pigs Aplenty, Pigs Galore_ and Grossman's _My Little Sister Ate One Hare_), that most people won't even realize that technically, they are reading poetry. Just a thought.
