Humor

I returned from a week at our local ocean to find a witty discussion of humor. Aside from Bagthorpians (great stuff that, isn't it Zero?) and, of course, the creation of the four Conroys ("Exiles") and that great Big Grandma (new book is fun, too), I'd like to suggest a sure crowd pleaser: Steve Sanfield's "The Great Turtle Drive." In many ways it reminds me of some of Richard Kennedy's tall tales--all worth the telling.

And...please remember that Milne's "Pooh" books are chock full of wit and good humor--not the dismal Disney creations of course--but the originals.

Napoli's "Frog Prince" (I have this title wrong--please forgive--in mind I'm still in the redwoods).

And many, many more. When I couldn't finish reading or telling a story because I was so hysterical with giggles, guffaws, and laughter, I knew it was funny beyond mere enjoyment.
