Two picture books that are fun to use with the younger set are Rhonda Gowler Greene's "Barnyard Song" and Robert Munsch's "50 Below Zero."
"Barnyard Song" makes kids smile because of the rhythm and word play. "50 Below Zero" is just preposterous. Both use repetition, allowing kids to participate and encouraging prediction, a reading skill we have been working on.
I look forward to storytimes using these books because I know the squirmers and hair-players will be with me.
I also look forward to reading about other storytime suggestions.
