As much as I love humorous novels, I don't think anyone surpasses Bill Waterson, author of "Calvin & Hobbes." These comics are truly funny, both to kids and adults. The humor is intelligent and insightful, perfectly capturing (in an exaggerated way) the joys and frustrations of being a kid. Whether or not we look at a comic like that as true Children's Literature, kids certainly do. Two more favorite bits of graphic humor are David Macaulay's "Motel of the Mysteries," (people from the future discuss ancient artifacts from present day earth) and David Wisniewski's new one "A Kid's Guide to the Secret Knowledge of Grown-ups" (the real reason why you should drink milk: so the atomic cows won't explode!)
