I may have missed some messages so forgive me if someone's already mentioned it, but I think Rob Thomas' YA books are tremendously funny, and my 14-year old daughter does as well, esp. RATS SAW GOD and DOING TIME. In fact, she's chosen to make Dadaism (which figures in RATS) the theme of her year-end 8th grade project, where each student creates a "magazine." She has interviewed Rob Thomas via email for it. I also see a need for more sophisticated and humorous YA material like this.
