Where are the e-mail addresses?

Hello- I just wanted to mention that the CCBC-list (at least as I am getting it) is no longer listing e-mail addresses of the people who submit to it, so I was unable to reply to them personally. It might be good to remember to include your e-mail address when you sign off!

So, I will now second Dr. Ruth's recommendation. BAT 6 by Virginia E. Wolff was stunning.

And thank you all for the wonderful poetry selections that you've shared. They have all reminded me of just how important this is. I work with a large population of preschoolers whose first language is Chinese, and I try to include Mother Goose rhymes and other short poems in most of my Story Times, as I feel their cadence is an important component to learning English, and so many aspects of nursery rhymes pop up throughout English lit! (My mother, who also learned English as a second language when she started school, always credits reading, perhaps poetry in particular-narrative poems were her favorites--as the basis for her excellent vocabulary. Her children were taught early on to memorize poems. Is this why I have a good memory, because I was taught to use it? The other advantages to memorizing poetry include wowing people at parties with my rendition of "Jabberwocky" and, more importantly, always having the comfort of favorite passages nearby in times of need.)
