Surely there can't be anything unethical or illegal about individuals ordering books from other countries, even if there is, say, a U.S. edition of a particular title? I know this is terribly off-topic -what is the topic? -- but I, for one, constantly find myself in need of books from Australia or the U.K. that aren't available here, and sometimes I'd like to see the original edition to see what U.S. editors have changed. This probably belongs back in our discussion of translated books, but I'd love to hear from Marc whether he has an opinion on translating books from British or Australian English to American English, which is constantly done, as per Jane Whitehead's article in Horn Book about a year ago. I, for one, think we ought to be able to learn each others' languages enough to talk to each other and read each other, and if it doesn't start in childhood, when?
