To Marc's question in reference to the smoothness of translation and in favor of
"roughness"
I don't booktalk "translations" I booktalk stories that I loved.
The translation has to be smooth in order to be swept away by the story. A sense of place ( a good foreigness) often comes with the turn of a phrase or an unusual rhythm of a sentence.
