Kids are terribly literal and can become quite upset if a book is not what it appears to be. I have had innumerable teens get angry when told that Miss Jane Pittman was not a real person. But it SAYS autobiography, they insist. It seems that Dear America skates perilously close to this.
Is everyone afraid to discuss Forged by Fire, too? Okay, I'll start. This was a big disappointment. It simply is not well written. The characters are one-dimensional, the point of view shifts ragged and Draper violates the basic rule of "show, not tell" on literally every page.
