CCBC-Net: 1998 Newbery Award winners

For the next two weeks, we'll be discussing the books that were recognized by the 1998 Newbery Committee. Just to refresh your memory, they are:
Newbery: "Out of the Dust" by Karen Hesse. (Scholastic)
Newbery honors: "Ella Enchanted" by Gail Carson Levine (HarperCollins)
"Lily's Crossing" by Patricia Reilly Giff (Delacorte)
"Wringer" by Jerry Spinelli (Joanna Cotler/HarperCollins)
I know you are anxious to discuss these books because many of us have started discussing "Wringer" a few weeks ago! But let's begin with the Newbery-winner "Out of the Dust."
