I am pleased to announce that the editor of "Out of the Dust," Brenda Bowen of Scholastic Press, has generously offered to answer any questions we might have about about how the book developed from idea to manuscript to published book. This is a wonderful opportunity for those of us in the CCBC-Net community to find out more about the creative process, about how an author and editor work together to create a book, and, of course, to learn more about this year's Newbery Award winner from someone who can offer unique insight.
Please feel free to address any questions you may have about "Out of the Dust" to Brenda Bowen through CCBC-Net. I'd like to begin by asking Brenda to tell us a little bit about what she remembers about the early stages of the book's development.
