We've been having a great discussion on the Coretta Scott King Award and Honor Books, and the issue of documenting the difference between fact and fiction in books for children and young adults. Thank you to everyone whose has shared such insightful comments over the past two weeks.

I want to invite final comments on the Coretta Scott King winner and honor books over the next few days. Any thoughts you want to share about either the CSK Author or Illustrator titles are welcome.

Then on Monday, March 2, our collective attention will turn to the winner and honor books for the Batchelder Award, which is given to the publisher of the outstanding translated book of the year. To remind everyone, this year's Batchelder winner and honors went to:

Winner: Henry Holt for publishing The Robber and Me by Josef Holub. Translated from the German by Elizabeth D. Crawford.

Honors:

Viking for publishing Nero Corleone: A Cat's Story by Elke Heidenreich. Translated from the German by Doris Orgel. Illustrated by Quint Buccholz.

Scholastic Press for publishing Hostage to War: A True Story by Tatjana Wassiljewa. Translated from the German translation of the original Russian by Anna Trenter.
