Yes,indeed, this is true. Which is why
a) committee members seek out books not necessarily sent to them by the big "in the know" publishers (I did receive some material from small presses, but not nearly as much as is out there)
b) it is *really* important for ALSC members to know they can nominate books for discussion by the committees
It always seemed odd to me that more ALSC members didn't take advantage of the opportunity to nominate books for discussion by the committees. Do you think it is just because people don't know they can do it?
