No matter what books are chosen we will not all agree. As my aunt, the philosopher, once said, "That is why some people like white milk, and other people like chocolate milk!"

What I find amazing is that the Caldecott and Newbery Committees can agree on anything for them to chose winners.

I think that we underestimate the sophistocation of todays younger children. They understand a lot about people and what is going on, and unfortunately they often know from their own experiences. Michele
