Do most people use the Old Laday as a poem or song? I just can't conceive of doing it without singing it (to the delight of my grandchildren at bedtime) I know about the traditional ballads showing up as poetry in texts, but I believe literature classes would be able to appreciate them much more hearing the way they were sung rather than reading them.
I am not a musician, can't read music, don't play an instrument, but do use my voice for songs in book form. Just seems more natural to me.
