The Caldecott Honor Book about which we have yet to comment a bit is the book Harlem illustrated by Christopher Paul Myers and written by Walter Dean Myers (Scholastic, 1997). Harlem was also named a Coretta Scott King Honor Book for Illustration. Yes, CPM is the son of WDM.

Someone mentioned in a conversation recently that Myers' artwork was developed in a Harlem Renaissance style - very fitting choice to accompany the text. I can't recall who said that. Does anyone know anything about this? How have you used the book Harlem with young people? in a classroom setting? in a library? in your personal life?
