Thank you for stating quite well what many of us think about emotions and reading books. In addition, I would add that the current brain research is clearly showing that our cognitive functions and emotions are connected. In fact, for the cognitive to be effective, the emotional element must be present. As you stated, there is a place for the analysis of books to be stated in a scholarly fashion, and none of us want only sentimental reactions to literature.
