Hi. One of my favorite books this year is Paul Fleishman's Seedfolks. It's a wonderful cameo of a small neighborhood community and is quietly humorous. Paul captures each person so well in so few words. I love how the people see (or don't see) each other, making their judgements, and then you finally meet the person and find out why they do what they do
(and their actions make sense). One of the planters is a Vietnamese girl. Some of her neighbors call her Chinese, others something else. Only the Korean woman recognizes her for who she is. The people are real (with both good qualities and not-so-good qualities); I would like to meet them and visit their garden.
