Hi,
I had quite a few favorites this year and as I think of them I will post them to the list. Here are three that I really enjoyed for many reasons...
1. Gold, Alison Leslie. MEMORIES OF ANNE FRANK : REFLECTIONS OF A
CHILDHOOD FRIEND.
This book recounts the story of Hannah Goslar, a close friend of
Anne and one of the last to see her alive. It was a good, fast
read...primarily because you didn't want to put it down. It was
nice to hear about Anne and her family from someone who was close
to Anne before the diary.
2. Naylor, Phyllis Reynolds. SAVING SHILOH.
Our hero, Marty, from Shiloh and Shiloh Season is back. This time
he tries to help Judd Travers change his mean ways. The book was
filled with familiar faces and plenty of plot twists. I really
enjoyed the whole series.
3. Willard, Nancy. CRACKED CORN AND SNOW ICE CREAM.
This is a non-fiction book set up in an almanac fashion. I really
enjoyed reading about rural america in this set-up. The book
touches upon important dates for farmers and folk, weather lore,
recipes, old-time pictures, and family "voices" of the author and
illustrator of the book. This is a great book to curl up with on
a snowy afternoon with a cup of cocoa in front of a nice fire.
You'll get lost in the past and not want to return.
That's all for now. Hope you get a chance to take a look at them.
