I've been looking forward to talking about favorites since Ginny mentioned them in October! Looks like I'll have to read Out of the Dust....

One of my favorites this year, and no one has mentioned it yet, is The Last Payback by James VanOosting. Dimple is so intense in telling her story, I couldn't put the book down. I really felt for her when no one would tell her what happened to her twin. If you haven't read it yet, I urge you to.

Another book that hasn't been mentioned (has it?) is Red Scarf Girl: A memoir of the cultural Revolution. An autobiography by JiLi Jiang. I haven't finished it yet...had to go to work. Who knew? who knew these things happened during the Cultural Rev. I was a toddler, but they didn't teach this in history class!

Others mentioned: Tangerine...weird and wonderful. Ella Echanted Seedfolks and Sun and Spoon.

That's all. They can't all be favorites...can they?
