1) The YALSA-BK listserv information can be found at the YALSA section of the ALA website (http://www.ala.org).
2) Information about the Jewish Short Story Competition can be secured from Ms. Hazel Karp, 880 Somerset Drv. NW, Atlanta, GA 30327. Write to Ginny directly with your mailing address or fax number if you do not get the information you need.
3) CCBC-NET fact questions: I make an attempt to respond individually to any fact question posed by an individual who mails it to all in the CCBC-NET community. Maybe this leaves all others wondering any number of things such as: Did anyone answer that question on a one-to-one basis? (possible result: no one responded) Did quite a few people answer the question on a one-to-one basis? (possible result: too much mail) Did the person sending the query get conflicting information from more than one person? (possible result: Choose your own answer)
Back to being serious following the parenthetical digression: If you have a question for the CCBC staff, it's a good idea to direct your message to one of us by using one CCBC staff member's individual e-mail address. We try to always include our e-mail addresses in every message we write to the entire CCBC-NET community (and we are grateful to everyone who does this, too.) If you have the answer to someone else's fact question, you may always write to that person on a one-to-one basis or, of course, to the entire CCBC-NET community.
The CCBC staff attempts to "batch" various general announcements at the beginning of each month. I altered that practice during December because I assumed many within the CCBC-NET community would be here and there, away from their e-mail, on a different schedule, etc.. I had another reason for doing this, i.e., this is the time of the calendar year when there are many grassroots awards discussions as well as formal awards. It was important to welcome all such announcements as well as personal favorites throughout these weeks.
- Cheers, everyone! Enjoy what remains of 1997 and all of 1998! Sincerely, Ginny Moore Kruse (gmkruse at ccbc.soemadison.wisc.edu)
