Several days ago someone asked about the composition of the NBA young people's award jury. They were: Katherine Paterson, chair, Lois Lowry, Julius Lester, Robert Lipsyte and Michael Cart (a retired librarian as well as an author). Pretty distinguished! My favorite picture book- BURNT TOAST ON DAVENPORT STREET by Tim Egan, funny and clever writing, distinctive, deadpan illustrations well integrated with the story.
