Thanks, Ellen Berrie, for relating your experiences with sharing "E" books with older readers. I once heard a libarian say she told the kids
"E" stands for "Everybody," rather than "Easy," and that took some of the stigma off of picture books for the older kids.
Ellen Berrie mentioned using "Wreck of the Zephyr" and other books by Chris Van Allsburg with older readers. Thanks for mentioning him -- he's one picture-book author/illustrator that older kids seem to ask for a lot. His book "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick" is another one that's popular with upper elementary students.
