Picture Books for Older Readers

Today I checked our 30 picture books to a fifth grade class...picture books that are "historical fiction"...last month we sent them crates of picture books that featured immigration...whatever their topic...they then use picture books to accompany it.
This is in a intermediate school grades 3-5. Our picture books are interfiled on the fiction shelves so there is no "easy" book section. We find students of any grade then feel comfortable using them especially since their teachers also assign them.
We love picture books...
