Any of Mildred Taylor's books would be idea for high school. In fact, they might be better understood there. I would be curious to know how Rita Auerbach's third graders respond to Taylor. Has she tried _The Freindship?

I have been an elementrary media specialist and am now at high school. I have purchased many books that have been traditionally considered elementary. I have had students read _The Giver_ and tell me that when they read it in elementary school they really didn't understand it. As we know there are many things that can be read on many different levels. Michele
