The CCBC hosts annual book award discussions to involve as many individuals as possible with some of the outstanding books of the year. The discussions this year are scheduled as follows in the CCBC:

1) Caldecott: Tues., Nov. 25, 6pm; 2) Coretta Scott King - Illustrator: Wed., Dec. 3, 6pm; 3) Batchelder (translated books): Fri., Dec. 5, 3:30-5:30pm; 4) Newbery: Mon., Dec. 8, 6pm; 5) Coretta Scott King - Author: Wed., Jan. 7, 6pm; and 6) Americas (Latino literature): Wed., Mar. 4, 6pm).

These discussions are free and open to all university students, faculty and staff and to all teachers, librarians, writers, artists, reviewers, and other adults with an academic, professional or career interest in a variety of perspectives on excellence in contemporary children's literature. The discussions are not programs for people to watch. They are processes. Everyone participates. The books to be discussed can be read in advance in the CCBC or borrowed on an overnight basis. For more information, call 608/263721, 608/262?03, or 608/263930.
