October: Lily's Crossing, other historical fiction set during World War II, historical fiction in general.

Let's begin thinking together about historical fiction by examining the novel Lily's Crossing by Patricia Reilly Giff (Delacorte, 1997). What are some of the details anchoring this particular story in the early 1940's, other than the obvious elements of World War II?
