Classics and Newberies

I like to think of myself as the Queen of the Lurkers, always gleaning information, responding in my head, or to my co-workers, but never ever going on-line. What would I say? So, with that in mind, my comments will be succinct, and hopefully not irrelevant.

When _View from Saturday_ won the Newbery, I thought...Good, now it can last forever. That is sort of the way I look at Newbery books.

As for classics...I had to get out the trusty Newbery bookmark to even look at the list of older Newbery winners. I really think that, like Christine Hill, some of these books are just old friends and that is why we visit them over and over again. Hoping that what we saw in a book will click with the reader.

I look forward to finding out if my new friend, View from Saturday, will stand time's test.
