Hitty

CCBC'ers: I have a vague memory of returning from ALA (and a trip to our local ocean) and reading something about klassiks on CCBC NET. Someone mentioned Field's book, "Hitty." May I suggest it might be re-read. I have a very old, and very vague memory of something in the travels of that wooden doll that disturbed me and is still naggingly upsetting. Will the person who suggested "Hitty" please check it over and see if there is something rather racist about one of Hitty's meetings. Was anything about this mentioned in the pre-conference group discussion? I believe it was an award book in 1930 and has, perhaps, been re?ited.

I'll re-read it when time allows. Right now, time does not.

Grandma (who DID read "Hitty" when she was a younger person--several deades ago.)
