CCBers: CLASSICS--sweet and short without annotation: Lloyd Alexander--anything by L.A. He is now nominated, voted on, and judged to be--by me, lady-high-pooh?h, THE American Enchanter because his books enchant.

Not to throw cold water over previous discussions: Has no one noticed that
"Wrinkle in Time" goes in through science (sort of) and comes out through Christian humanism? This is sometimes called "cheating" and pulling the didactic wool over the unwary reader's eyes). At least C.S. Lewis doesn't cheat. Later books in the endless series about THAT remarkable family became longer and longer, prolix and wordy with the author's usual thin characterization. Did I have the stuff in the library where I worked? You bet I did and debated with the young readers about literary quality because that, too, was one of my jobs--to have people examine books, not just
"LOVE' or "HATE" them. They are books, for heaven's sakes--not puppies and relatives.

If it's warm where you are (it is here), my cold water may be welcome. Then again...
