A Father Like That

I'll keep this short and sweet. Charlotte Zolotow's book A Father LIke That provides my all time favorite ending written for a story. I remember the first time I read the book and thinking, how can she possibly end this story? It won't work to have the father come back and to not have him come back is such a downer. She got it exactly right for this reader, and like so many of her books she knew how to make it work for the child and adult alike.
