Oh gee, K.T.--am I out of this game because there were no Charlotte Zolotow books when I was a child? If so, I'll confine myself to a few simple thoughst: Charlotte Zolotow is the Margaret Wise Brown of our time. That's a compliment.

C.Z. is a super-duper, kindly but firm, editor. She is also one of the great trainers of others who become fine, sensitive editors.

C.Z. isn't afraid to take on what might be deemed different--and that's a wonder in a world of conforming.

And...for those of us who have had the honor of working with her in a professional capacity--she provides affirmation and encouragement.

What more is wanted, I don't know.

Also--for E-mail: Harper's address % Catherine Balkin in Bill Morris' office can put typed and downloaded messages into C.Z.'s hands.
