Dateline Troy

Fellow thoughtful readers: I'm with John Peters about "Dateline Troy" for several reasons. I think it takes someone who knows modern history to understand some of the events that were juxtaposed to events during the Trojan Wars. The work was slick and a gimmick rather than expository. Sometimes Fleischman tries gimmicks and they work. Sometimes..... But I am always delighted to see someone try something new because it takes daring. Avi also takes chances and his work. like much of Fleischman's, is refreshing. No formula writing with them.

And yes, I am of the generation that read the classic Greeks and Romans--and others, too.

Thanks, John.
