(Note to all - I asked Ginny if I could introduce this discussionon CCBCnet; she said it was fine.)
I would like to push for clarification. You said "self?nsorship is an immense problem" - what does that mean? Is this along the "what is
'selection' vs 'censorship'" issue?
And, I also need clarification on the concept of "idea vaccination" as opposed to "idea disease."
How do you keep the "brew from boiling over?"
It seems that the voices in the area of multicultural literature, who may point out "stereotypes" in literature can be seen as endeavoring to censor if they choose not to purchase/use a book that is a negative portryal of an ethnic/minority culture.
