Hi Erica, Your note carried echoes from my years as a school media specialist. I felt the need to divert kids' growing affectation for materialism, and as might be expected, I looked to literature! (What a "novel" idea!) One mustn't be didactic, I realize, but maybe we can make a difference in some small ways. Others will have many suggestions for you, but just a few titles relating to generosity, familial love and care....Mama, Do You Love me (Joose); Happy Birthday, Grandpie (Pearson); The Legend of the Bluebonnet(dePaola).
And even if it's not directly related to generosity, that wonderful classic The Ugly Duckling (H>C> Andersen) encourages us to look past the outside appearances. Hope this will help. Good luck with a worthy idea!
