In response to the book Bridge to Terabithia by Kathrine Paterson, I must say that this was a very touching book. It deals with a real life situation that I feel that many children may have encountered yet, never have the opportunity to discuss. Death is a common occurence and I think that many children are told to avoid it and, therefore, are not able to express themselves when needed.

The book also talks about the friendship between a boy and a girl. Many children may have a friendship similiar to this one and feel ashamed to reveal it. Boys and girls are told by living in society that many games are strictly established for boys and many games are established for boys. This book showed that sports do not need to be divided by gender. Girls can be just as good as boys.

The book deals with strength. The will to fight for things. It shows that people can teach us things we never thought were reachable within our limits.

The book describes imagination as the two children create a world of their own. A place where they can escape. Children will feel comforted in knowing that they too can use imagination to create a place different from where they currently are.

This book would be a good book to use to teach children about friendships and death. Many issues are covered here.
