My school is k-5 about 400 students. I am media specialist. I had heard Ruth White speak last spring and was not impressed, tho the conference originator raved about "Belle Prater's boy" Read it this fall, and wondered why I had doubted his recommendation. It blew me away. What a sensitive, warm, funny insightful book. Reminded me a bit of Bridge to Terebithia in the relationship of the two characters. I just finished View and really liked it, but felt that the 'journey' bit was stretching it a bit. But I loved the characters and how they related to each other. I can see many of our really bright kids who have problems with classmates liking this very much. It is not heavily from one point of view, whichis good also. I think I could talk this as a boy or girl book. And since we are only 20 miles from Albany where the contest takes place, our kids have that hook also.
