I haven't spent enough time with Golem to be a fair judge. Being familiar with other versions of the Golem (Brodsky, for example), I'm not excited about the choice on a practical level. I work with K-2 grades, and the story is a complex one for those ages. On thinking about my objection to the style of art, it seems to me that a great amount of feeling cannot be injected into cut paper, but on second thought, great artists have done wonderful things with collage, such as Matisse. Do people feel that these illustrations have emotional power?
I love Lilly's purple plastic purse and was shocked that it got nothing. Does anyone know why?
