After I reposted my comments I saw someone make reference to them, so even though I never saw them they must have reached the net.
There is a wondeful poem by Nikki Giovanni that I cannot for the life of me remember, but it is about a child wanting to ride the bus to the library to check out a copy of DR DOOLITTLE. I think it is one of the best poems about the power of reading, and I cannot remember it. If anyone knows what it is titled, please share it with the group (can we post it, or is that against the rules?).
