One of the elements I've always appreciated in Number the Stars is Lowry's parallel uses of the Little Red Riding Hood tale. This signals her intention to make the story intellectually as well as emotionally understandable to young (I mean y-o-u-n-g) readers. In your experience, do child readers talk or write about this dimension of Number the Stars? ... Ginny
