You're doing wonderfully at sharing favorites of 1996! Keep it up! You can look forward to other types of discussion during 1997, such as During January, we will emphasize fiction by Lois Lowry, focusing especially upon the novels Number the Stars and The Giver. Get ready to discuss these two provocative works, along with thinking about Lowry's overall contribution to literature for children and young adults.
We'll begin the month of February by looking at Poetry - original and anthologies published for children and young adults. The recent high visibility of Poetry in general is reflected in a considerable number of exciting books for young readers. Take a look between now and then. You might be surprised at all you will find...
On Monday, February 17, the annual announcements of ALA/ALSC & CSK Awards will posted on CCBC-NET. We'll discuss the 1997 Caldecott, Newbery, Batchelder, and Coretta Scott King Award Winners and Honor Books from that point on for at least four weeks.
Meanwhile, let's continue sharing our favorites of 1996, our reasons for appreciating these books (or not appreciating those selected by others). ...Ginny (* see below for CCBC public service hours during the university break)
