Mock Caldecott

Just wanted to add to the Caldecott discussion by reporting the results of the mock Caldecott held in the Picture Book class at Simmons' Center for the Study of Children's Literature. Although we did not come up with a clear cut winner (no book received 8 first place votes), the top vote getter was Kevin Henkes' LILLY'S PURPLE PLASTIC PURSE, with Chris Raschka's work for Nikki Giovanni's THE GENIE IN THE JAR coming in a close second. Other top vote getters were FANNY'S DREAM (Mark Buehner), SAVING SWEETNESS (Brian Karas), and MY LITTLE SISTER ATE ONE HARE (Kevin Hawkes).
