We welcome comments about any/all of Jerry Pinkney's books. When you look for Mr. Pinkney's books in your public library or school library media center, he will be listed as the illustrator, not as the author. He has illustrated more than 80 books, but before you panic at reading this fact, only 60 of them are books for children. For that reason alone, we decided to focus on the following eight books: 1) John Henry, retold by Julius Lester 2) Minty, written by Alan Schroeder 3) Sam and the Tigers, written by Julius Lester 4) Pretend You're a Cat, written by Jean Marzollo 5) Half a Moon and One Whole Star, written by Crescent Dragonwagon 6) Home Place, written by Crescent Dragonwagon 7) The Patchwork Quilt, written by Valerie Flournoy - and 8) Back Home, written by Gloria Jean Pinkney...
If you locate other books illustrated by Jerry Pinkney about which you want to comment, please do. If other Jerry Pinkney books are your particular favorites, please tell us. Happy reading! Sincerely, Ginny Moore Kruse (gmkruse at ccbc.soemadison.wisc.edu)
I am a recent subscriber to ccbc-net and I am just learning about the internet. I would like to participate in some way in the discussion of Jerry Pickney's work, but I'm afraid I don't know any of his book titles off the top of my head. Could you please send me a title list? Thank you for your time. Alexa kontes 104715,2102
