I feel almost silly mentioning these, as it seems everyone knows about them and they are often "done to death".

Don't feel silly mentioning books that seem "standard knowledge." We are all at different places with regard to our exposure to children's literature. Some of us are just beginning to explore it while others have been using and studying children's and young adult books for years, and I know I appreciate the varied perspectives that result. Thanks, Bridget!

Thanks, too, for mentioning Keiko Kasza, an author/illustrator who has created six picture books for young children that are filled with lovely, gentle humor. In addition to "Grandpa Toad's Secrets," her titles include "The Wolf's Chicken Stew," "The Pig's Picnic," "When the Elephant Walks," "A Mother for Choco," and "The Rat and the Tiger."
