As a CCBC-Net subscriber and someone lucky to live close enough to the CCBC to use this fabulous resource of books and people in person, I feel compelled to add my 2 cents. But my feelings are so mixed I'm not sure which "side" I weigh in on. Perhaps there is some middle ground. I highly value CCBC-Net for its in depth book discussion and I count one of the plusses of the list the fact that it does not generate tons of messages. But, I have felt at times that I was listening in on a discussion between CCBC staff (Ginny, K.T. and Megan) and fascinating as that is, more input would be great. I have felt a bit intimidated (and I know these people!) and have hesitated to join in the discussion because I don't often have time to formulate in?pth responses. I suspect others may feel this way and I'm not sure what the solution is. Also I wonder if those enjoying the exchange of titles (always valuable IMHO) and the higher volume of messages know about PUBYAC the listserve discussion forum for children and young adult services in public libraries. I'd be glad to send info on joining.
