My email carrier at work (a freenet) is going belly up and service has been spotty, so if someone already mentioned Kathleen Krull's unique approach to biograhies, please excuse me for possibly treading over old waters (how's THAT for a poor use of a cliche). I think Krull's Lives of the Writers, Lives of the Artists, and Lives of the Musicians are good examples of the new trend in juvenile nonfiction to give information in short doses mixed with eye grabbing layouts. Unlike the Eyewitness books that also use this technique but make you search for a consistent pattern of facts, Krull's bios give brief but concise and interesting capsules of various artists. I think I would have enjoyed this approach as a kid, learning that a certain composer wrote a great piece of music AND enjoyed his macaroni and cheese. By the way, Krull will be in Eau Claire (WI) the last week of September 1996. If anyone would like information on her visit, please write to me via my HOME accounts
(and not the freenet) which is FreijReid _at_ aol.com or RoboRob at aol.com Rob Reid
