I also love the new autobiography of Faith Ringgold- I had some 4th graders read it and become the "experts" to share her books with 2nd graders. The 4th graders were especially impressed with her determination, when a college professor criticized her art work, she then vowed to prove him wrong. Learning about her enhanced their appreciation for TAR BEACH.
